The famed stretch of Broadway in Pacific Heights, where the road runs to the Lyon Street stairs was the destination for the Savor the Greenbelt benefit. The annual fundraising event was held in the estate home of Laney Thornton and Pasha Thornton. The organization is so dear to Laney, it is the only board he currently sits on. The purpose of the Greenbelt Alliance is to protect the Bay Area’s open spaces and help shape the quality of life within neighborhoods.
In a room overlooking the ocean Grammy Award-winning bluegrass artist, Laure Lewis and the Right Hands played during the cocktail hour. Guests were then ushered into the atrium for a four-course farm-to-table dinner, that highlighted some of the best the bay has to offer. Participating farms and ranches included Ocho Verde Farm and Soul Food Farm in Vacaville, TomKat Ranch in Pescadero, and Frog Hollow Farm in Brentwood. During dinner, Laney shared his enthusiasm for the work Greenbelt does remarking “There is a great diversity in the places that make the Bay Area special”. Through Greenbelt, that ideal can be further nourished and cultivated.
