Although Envisionfest is billed as "Connecticut's Capital City Festival", it includes more than just arts exhibits, concerts, and other activities. Not only will there be food vendors selling everything from banh mi to grilled cheese to cupcakes in the pop-up café on Gold Street, but you can make your own granola at the Hartford Public Library. As a special event, the newly opened Kitchen at the Hartford Public Library on Main Street will offer a workshop at 2:00pm so that you can make your own granola under the skilled hands of Billings Forge employees. They will provide oats, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and other goodies for you to mix and match - the possibilities are endless! You'll leave not only with a treat but armed with a few helpful hints and tips from these experts so that you can make your own versions of this healthful snack at home. You can get a snack or light meal at the Kitchen from 11:00am to 4:00pm during Envisionfest.
Don't forget to enjoy some of Envisionfest's free live musical entertainment and dramatic performances on five stages, free admission to more than four museums, landmark building tours, and a Hodge Podge Street fair in Bushnell Park. Bring a picnic or plan to buy your lunch or dinner. If you are over 21 years and have proper ID, you can enjoy the City Steam beer garden in the Pump House Courtyard in Bushnell Park. You can listen to the sounds of the performers at the Hartford Stage tent or chat up Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain. Although most events are free, you do have to pay for the beer.
