Foo Fighters' front man Dave Grohl announced in an interview on Feb. 21, that the band is working on their 8th album. Four months ago in the wake of Grohl's "Sound City" movie premiere, Grohl announced that the band "will go away for a while" referring to the band taking an hiatus from recording and touring.
Grohl made an announcement at The Brit Awards, that he would be entering the studio today with the band to begin work on their next album. Grohl, who kept himself busy during the hiatus by drumming for Queens of the Stone Age and prepping his "Sound City" documentary, did not elaborate on a possible release date.
The soundtrack for Grohl's "Sound City" documentary is set to be released on Mar. 11, 2013. Several of the recording artists from the film are featured on the soundtrack.
Kerrang! Radio reports, "The album, featuring contributions from Corey Taylor, Krist Novoselic, Josh Homme, Trent Reznor, Paul McCartney, Pat Smear, Rick Springfield and many more, ‘Sound City – Reel to Reel’ is released on 11th March."
