Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Sound City Players band to perform on Jimmy Kimmel

Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl is set to perform live with the Sound City Players on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" according to the Mar. 2, announcement by Grunge Report.

Grohl is spending quite a lot of time in the spotlight these days with the success of his film documentary "Sound City," currently in select theaters. The Sound City Players are an ensemble band including a number of the recording artist featured in Grohl's film.

Sound City is a legendary recording studio in Las Angeles, that featured analog recording equipment. When Grohl learned that the studio is closing after 40 years, he decided to create the tribute narrative documentary along with other recording artists who shared his sentiment for Sound City Studios.

The performance event line-up for the Sound City Player on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will include Grohl and "Rick Springfield, John Fogerty, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and Lee Ving of Fear–all backed by Grohl’s extended musical family including the full Foo Fighters lineup, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, and Alain Johannes."

The concert takes place on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 and will be broadcast live on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the evening of the concert.

Some of the other noteworthy artists who recorded at Sound City Studios include, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Fear, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, and Metallica.
