Article by Joe Sioufi - I am a photographer and had been taking pictures in various events, from weddings to political & cultural events. I heard it lots before people claiming to be a photographer; it is not because you can afford to buy a good quality 12 Mega pixels digital camera that you can give yourself the title of a photographer.
Photographer Logan Sebastian Beck pays homage to the author of one of the most nice road-trip stories in American literature in his exhibit “Following Huck Finn”
Beck made the trek from Houston to Hannibal, Missouri, by bike. He retraced the path taken by Mark Twain’s famous fictional characters Huckleberry Finn and his friend Jim in reverse and sought out the echoes of the world Huck and Twain knew in today’s rural America.
Following Huck Finn is a long-distance bicycle tour/ road trip up the Mississippi River to Mark Twain’s hometown, Hannibal, Missouri. 2010 is 175th anniversary of Mark Twain’s birth and the 100th anniversary of his death. More importantly, a journey up the Mississippi will put us in touch with a good part of American culture, the river which divides the East and the West.
