Last week, CVAPI assisted local realtor, Kimberly Ann Calos, with an investigation of a vacant property located on Perry Street. The home was built in 1810 and sits in Folly Castle Historic District.

Though we gave it a thorough investigation, we were unable to prove any paranormal activity with scientific evidence. There are certain things that we look for on an investigation as well as in our evidence review. In addition, there were many factors that played into our end result.

I also want to make a correction on my previous article of this location in saying it was once a bed and breakfast. It appears that the home has sat vacant for the last 8 years, and prior to this was a single family dwelling.

Considering it is located in the Folly Castle Historic District and the age of the home, with it being vacant it did cast the “eerie” feeling of a haunted house. Accompanied by a cool dreary night of rain, we did enjoy the investigation.

All members of CVAPI were delighted to see the media coverage from NBC Channel 12, WRIC Channel 8, and WRVA 1140AM. There is another part to being a paranormal investigator that most seem to forget. The majority of paranormal investigators are big history buffs!

The investigation itself did produce some interesting photography. The picture seen here is actually a flashlight, instead of a bright orb. CVAPI reached out to professional photographer Rich Endrich of Chesterfield. We also consulted with professional photographer Robbie Lopez of Robbie Lopez Photography and founder of the Richmond Photography Meetup group.

The home is currently on the market for $129,000.00 and described by members of CVAPI as a “gem in the rough”. With the media attention on this location, we are hoping there is a historian out there with an offer.

Even brand new locations can have active paranormal activity in them.  Spirits can attach to many things, land being one of them. CVAPI never stated that this location was not haunted. It was stated, “the investigation did not produce any scientific evidence.”

Under CVAPI’s protocol, walk thru’s are performed prior to an investigation. On these walk thru’s the environment and technical setup are analyzed. In this case we entered the location blind-sided, where we had never been there before.

CVAPI does plan to return to this location without the media and the team in place. We are now aware of the size of the location and the layout. Debris reeking havoc on our cameras, air flow, and audible noise from the streets are now a factor. Knowing this going in, the investigation can be critiqued. There are also locations that set near things that can “feed” the paranormal. Power lines, railroad tracks, sub stations, and water sources can lend a hand in an active paranormal location, but not cause paranormal activity.

CVAPI was glad to assist on the night of the investigation and look forward to returning. They remain available for any family or business in need for validation of the paranormal. http://www.cvapi.com
