Follow the Honey blossoms for Cambridge

Today, Follow the Honey joined the family of locally owned and managed businesses in Cambridge. Mary Canning and her growing hive opened their doors at 11:00 am this morning to a gently humming swarm of curious friends, neighbors, and passersby.

Fittingly, the first one in the front door was a little girl dressed as a bee. She and her mother had come out to celebrate National Honey Bee Day. The little bee was shy at first, but once inside found a treasure trove of edible and decorative treats that made her smile - as they did the rest of us.

Among Mary's team are her husband Ingo, VP of Finance ("number one drone"), Mary's daughter Caneen (who grew up in Cambridge), artist and friend Pauline, and a radiant team of designers and honey aficionados. Soon after the doors opened, The Bee Hive Collective consisting of Corrina, Brian, Mary and Roberta conducted a sweet ceremony to honor the bees.

Beautifully decorated cupcakes, teas with honey, and cheeses were among the offerings to the community. Smiles never ceased as visitors explored the hive.

When asked how they'd learned about the store's opening, quite a few said "I just happened to walk by..."

Follow the Honey has a warm, fragrant pull to it. Next time you are happening by, be sure to stop in at this new Harvard Square gem.
