While there is always something going on in our community every weekend in Bakersfield, this weekend we are focusing on kids. Some of our kids are in foster care or are foster "alumni" - and these young people may be starting families of their own. They receive some services through the Kern County Network for Children and Foster Youth Services, and through the Dream Center and Coffee House (supported by the previously mentioned organizations and local businesses). This weekend, there will be a "Sweet Dreams" community baby shower to help provide the much needed basics to these youth and their babies. Help if you can, and remember that your help pays forward to our community - with happier, healthier youth who become employable and productive adults.
And for our Bakersfield families with kids, there is a great opportunity to enjoy the spring weather and get out to the Kern County Museum to explore their Summer Camp options. An added benefit - free admission to the museum during the event! Check it out now, and plan for your kid's summer experience!
