Valentine’s Day is coming and Spokane homes are being decorated for the occasion. Foam Cat Hearts are all the rage this season. These adorable cats are easy to make, inexpensive and can be packed up for next year.
To make these cats you will need two large pink foam hearts, two medium pink foam hearts, one medium red foam heart, two small pink foam hearts, two tiny white foam hearts, white craft glue, one heart-shaped pink sequin, two small crystal gems, and a black marker. These items can be purchased at any craft store such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.
Once these items are assembled, simply glue the two large pink hearts jointly with points overlapping.
Next, glue the red heart to the midpoint of the two large pink hearts.
Attach the two medium pink hearts on either side of the red heart, bumps positioned toward each other.
Fasten the two small pink hearts to the foundational large heart, one small heart on each bump.
Glue the heart-shaped sequin on for a nose and add two crystal gems for eyes.
Use a black marker on the two tiny white hearts at the pointed end to make ears and cut from the heart. Glue the points to the top of the head and let everything dry.
Some people have added magnets and decorated their refrigerators and file cabinets.
Others have followed other color schemes using pastel blues, purples and greens and have written little Valentine messages on the hearts such as, “You are a PURRfect CATch.” Still others have glued pictures of their cats for a one-of-a-kind ornament.
Make more than one and give them out to your friends. They also make an affable addition to offices and classrooms.
