Flying Under The Radar (Photos)

I normally make it a point to swing by my local Total Wine store once a week to stroll the isles and see what new and exciting beers have made their way to the shelves. While I generally look for rare seasonal releases or obscure one off brews there have been 3 beers that have been readily available on the shelves for the past few weeks that deserve some attention and recognition.

1. Nectar Ales Black Xantus : An imperial stout clocking in at 11% ABV. Good imperial stouts are hard to come by so if your in the mood for something heavier or just want to sip on something while smoking a cigar this should most certainly be high on your list. Ratebeer.com score = 99

2. Nectar Ales Nectar IPA : Practically every craft beer company makes an IPA, but very few make one that would be considered "sessionable", or a beer you can drink multiple times in one sitting. This beer is light and refreshing. It has really nice hoppy characters to it, along with a nice subtle honey flavor to it. Ratebeer.com score = 97

3. Ballast Point Sculpin IPA : Sculpin IPA is still very new to the South Florida area but to any beer geek this should a must try beer. I might go as far to say that this could be one of the best IPA's that's readily available anywhere (along with Cigar City Jai Alai of course). Ratebeer.com score = 100.
