Cancer is a frightening diagnosis that can strike at any time. Among men, the most common type of cancer is skin cancer and it’s also quite common among women as well. But the second most common type of cancer among men is prostate cancer and it’s a disease that can be more effectively treated if men remember to get regular screenings. Houston area Flying Saucer Draught Emporium locations want to bring awareness to prostate cancer and they have a weekly event in support of the cause. Here are the facts:

Event: Pints for Prostates

Location: Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in both Sugar Land and Houston

Date and Time: Each Wednesday, starting June 4, 2014 and continuing through July 2, 2014, at 7 p.m.

Pints for Prostates is a non- profit organization that aims to "reach men through the universal language of beer" and it is teaming up with Flying Saucer Draught Emporium to raise awareness of prostate cancer. As mentioned above, the chance for successful victory over this often deadly form of cancer is magnified when the cancer is detected early. Pints for Prostates wants to help spread the word through education and Flying Saucer is ready to assist with this important cause.

As part of the fund raising effort, Flying Saucer will feature different German beers or American craft beers brewed in a classic German style at each event. When the clock strikes 7 p.m. at each location, 144 people will get a special glass filled with the featured beer for a low price. Proceeds from the sale of the glass will go directly to support Pints for Prostates. In addition, each glass will include a raffle ticket to enter a drawing for a beer tour in Germany, scheduled for October 9 through October 19, 2014.

Prostate cancer is common among men but this form of cancer and other forms can be more effectively treated with early detection. Screening is key, so come out to either the Sugar Land Flying Saucer or the Houston Flying Sauce each Wednesday through July 2, 2014 and show your support for prostate glands everywhere.
