Flying Saucer 3rd Anniversary Party

The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium will be celebrating its three years in Kansas City by hosting "An anniversary party with a purpose." In the past few years, Kansas City's craft beer culture has really improved and the "Saucer", as it is often called, has definitely been a big part of that. By bringing in obscure brews, hosting brewery release events, and offering an enormous selection the "Saucer" has become a craft beer destination in Kansas City.

The "Third Anniversary Party" is on Sunday, May 1 from noon to 9 p.m. at its 101 East 13th St. location.

From the press release:

"An anniversary party with a purpose, this year’s celebration will feature a live raffle, canned-food drive and the tapping of 10 special beers throughout the day, one every hour on the hour, including 2007 Cantillon Iris; Struise Black Damnation III – Black Mes; Struise Black Damnation IV – Coffee Club; Bell’s Batch 10,000 Ale; Firestone Walker Abacus Barley Wine; and Firestone Walker 14 Anniversary Ale. Each customer will receive one complimentary raffle ticket upon entry. Additional tickets will be sold in five-ticket booklets for $5 each or guests can earn one ticket book for every five cans of donated food items. All proceeds will benefit Harvesters- The Community Food Network and its efforts to provide food and household products to agencies serving people in need. The event is open to everyone 21 years of age and older, and admission is free."

GM Matt Gardner also mentioned that there may be some other kegs being tapped and some bottles being released:

"I have a couple other kegs back there that I may throw out just for fun that day. We also have a bunch of crazy bottles we will be releasing that day from breweries like Dieu du Ciel, Fantome, Mikkeller, etc..."

So as you can see not only will there be some amazing beers, but you will also have the chance to win some prizes. Of course doing all this while helping out Harvesters makes it even better.
