The AOPA Summit 2010 is coming to Long Beach, CA from November 11th through the 13th. As part of the event, the AOPA is bringing back it's 'Airportfest' for a second year. AOPA states that 'Airportfest is one of the “must see” features of Summit. Airportfest combines a one-of-a-kind static aircraft display with so much more!' Airportfest is open Thursday, November 11 (9:00am - 5:00pm), Friday, November 12 (9:00am - 5:00pm), and Saturday, November 13 (9:00am - 4:00pm). One of the events is a live music session from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. each of the three days. The music will be provided by the Flying Musicians who describe themselves as a group of 'Pilot musicians sharing their passion while encouraging and educating youth in the science and art of aeronautics and music.'
Flying Musicians is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and was founded in 2009 by two pilots, John Zapp and Aileen Hummel, both of who are also musicians.
AOPA will be providing complimentary shuttle service between the convention center for the regular Summit activities and the airport daily for the Airportfest activities. The other scheduled activities at airport fest include autograph sessions, over 100 static display aircraft, guest speakers, introductory flights and many more events. Fort Worth, Texas– October 13, 2010: The Flying Musicians Association, Inc. (FMA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, will be featured during the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Aviation Summit on November 11-13. With more than 410,000 members, AOPA is the largest civil aviation association in the world.
Members of The Flying Musicians will provide live music throughout the event on the AOPA Airportfest Stage, which is sponsored by Sennheiser and located at Long Beach Airport. Airportfest is free and open to the public, making it a great place to showcase members and inform the community!
