One of San Diego's most anticipated air shows - AirShow San Diego - lands at Gillespie Field in El Cajon on June 7th & 8th, 2014. This year, AirShow San Diego (formerly Wings Over Gillespie) will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of D-Day - the invasion of Normandy, and the beautifully crafted "D-Day Doll," a C-53 that actually flew several missions during the invasion, will be the main star!
AirShow San Diego will have lots of attractions and activities that the entire family will enjoy. Root for the fan-favorite Smoke-N-Thunder Jet Car as it races a WWII Warbird, be enthralled by John Collver's daring aerial display in War Dog high above Gillespie Field, and hold your breath as the Silver Wings Wingwalking take to the skies.
There will be Navy Seals, paratroopers, historic aircraft fly-bys and over 55 static displays and education exhibits, a Sheriff's helicopter, battle re-enactments, military performances, music, food and drink, a Kid's Zone, classic cars, a mock battle with "Pyro," and even take a ride in "Sassy", a beautifully restored SNJ-5. Saturday will feature 1940's costume dancing and music. Come dressed in your best 1940's attire and show off your moves in the AirShow San Diego Dance Contest!
Admission varies - $16 adults, $12 seniors/children. Parking is FREE. Gates open at 9am. AirShow San Diego will take place at Gillespie Field, 1960 Joe Crosson Dr., El Cajon, CA 92020.
