Flyboarding is growing quite a reputation in the world of extreme water sports, and it has made its way into Utah. It was only a matter of time that flyboarding would make a debut in the outdoor mecca of Utah. Thanks to Rocky Mountain Flyboard, adrenaline seekers now have another way of performing crazy stunts and frolic in and above the water. Think jetpack and modified board.
Frank Zapata, a French Jet Ski racing champion, invented flyboarding almost two years ago. The extreme sport is a simple device made up of a long hose connected to a modified board and two hand-held stabilizers. The modified board straps onto the user while the other side of the hose is connected to a WaveRunner or Jet Ski. The propulsion of water created by the Jet Ski or WaveRunner is channeled into the hose which then propels the individual high up in the sky, and the hand stabilizers help keep the flyer in control of the flight at all times. Many have compared flyboarding to flying like Ironman.
Rocky Mountain Flyboard is an exclusive Zapata racing flyboard dealer and rental operator for the state of Utah. When you try it out, you are given one-on-one personal training by a certified flight instructor. The instructor will teach you what you need to know in order to take that first flight. Many have been able to start flying during their first ten minutes in the water depending on their abilities and being able to execute what they have learned from the instructor.
Flyboarding is definitely gaining a lot of notoriety through clips seen on youtube. So if you’re ready to try a booming extreme sport now that summer is upon us, maybe it’s time you try flyboarding. Watching the clips from youtube will most likely have you completely psyched to give it a shot. Do you think you have what it takes?
