The current flu has been considered an epidemic from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) for the 2013 flu season and worse yet it is causing a crisis for employees who want to work yet they would prefer to stay home and get well again.
The biggest crisis of all is the threat coming from employers when hearing the tone taken upon ill employees. For example, not all employees have the ability to take a sick day as many work hourly jobs without sick leave or other benefits of days off. Another factor many employees experience is the fact the position could be done from home yet employers have not made it so they can work virtually.
With the flu epidemic now under way, many employees are afraid to take time off, as they are afraid of being fired. It raises the question, should employers consider the germs being brought into the work place environment before forcing a germ infected employee to come in and spread the flu disease throughout the company? Just a thoughtful consideration to save others from contracting the flu and sharing it.
