Flowers by Paulette is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive this Friday, 13 September. The blood drive is scheduled to run from noon - 4 pm. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked outside the 258 N. Queen Street shop. The community minded flower shop has hosted a blood drive twice a year since 2008, according to store owner Mary Beth Shenk.
All donors will receive a 1/2 dozen carnations. In addition, each person will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win gift certificates from several local businesses, confirmed Manager Deana Erdman.
Due to limited spaces, prospective donors must sign up through the American Red Cross. Register at http://tiny.cc/7iw7a. Simply scroll down to the event and click on “schedule an appointment.”

During the month of September, Flowers by Paulette will also be donating 5% off sales to support Tyson Snader. Snader, a 2001 Manheim Township High School graduate and family friend of the Shenks, suffered a severe spinal injury in August. He was at his work picnic when he dove head first into a pond, which turned out to be too shallow. He hit his head and injured his spine. Several local business, Shenk said, are holding various fundraisers for Snader and his young family.
“We actually just did their wedding,” said Erdman of Tyson and Lacy Snader.
Weddings are a specialty at Flowers by Paulette, where the goal is satisfy the bride and make her day extra special. To arrange a bridal consultation, call the shop at 800-832-9765. The shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays thru Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The shop is closed on Sundays. They accept most major credit cards.
