The wait for spring seems endless this year in Pennsylvania. And while yet another snowy spell is still in the forecast, a sure sign of spring will appear at the Pennsylvania Convention Center as the month of March arrives. The Philadelphia Flower Show blooms in the city from March 1 through 9.
The flower show's roots go back to 1829 and the Philadelphia show has become one of the nation's largest indoor horticultural events. The show provides an early boost to the city's tourism year
This year's theme: Where Art Meets Horticulture. According to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the 185th annual flower show celebrates "everyone from Michelangelo to Monet, Picasso to Pollock, and da Vinci to Dali." The show's exhibitors create their art using a palette of flowers, plants, and other gardening ornamentation.
Public hours for the flower show are:
- Saturday, March 1 11:00 am - 9:00 pm
- Sunday, March 2 8:00 am - 9:00 pm
- Mon. - Fri., March 3-7 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
- Saturday, March 8 8:00 am - 9:00 pm
- Sunday, March 9 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
