Nathan Gary, creative director of Sony Santa Monica studio, announced on the Playstation blog that 4 hit indie games were slated for a re-release on the next-gen PS4 and the PS Vita; all of whom were breakout hits.
All the games listed are available using Sony’s Cross-Buy deal, which allows gamers who own both a PS4 and a PS Vita to get two versions of the same game. Those who buy a game on the PS3 or, in the future, a PS4 will receive the PS Vita version of the same game, free of charge.
Two of ThatGameCompany’s most renowned works, Flower and FlOw, will be released on the PS4 November 15 and November 29th, respectively. Both games received critical acclaim for breaking the video game mold and presenting games as an art form. With the advanced graphical technology of the PS4, fans can experience that feeling of “art” and relaxation in stunning 1080p or 60fps on the PS Vita.
But that’s not all. Sound Shapes, the hit musical game for the PS Vita, is also debuting on Sony’s next-gen home console on November 15th. Another Vita title, Escape Plan, developed by Funny Bits Interactive, will be coming to the PS4 November 29th. Gary states that the controls for the game were reworked for the PS4’s new DualShock 4 controller, and assures us that there’s plenty of fun to be hand on the console version.
News of these show-stopping indie games being re-released on the PS4 is heart-warming, and brings with it the possibility of games like ThatGameCompany’s Journey also getting an HD re-release. Time will tell.
