We can find many types of floral arrangements which originated in Europe. Especially in France there have been lots of beautiful flower designs created and developed since long time ago. I would like to talk a little bit about such European originated flower arrangements in this article as follows:
If you would like to earn practical floral design skills for a wedding, it is mandatory to learn how to make bridal bouquets. Bouquet is a mandatory item for brides since holding a bouquet can enhance the beauty of a bride at a wedding. I want to focus on the under mentioned types of wedding bouquets:
Hand-tied regular bouquet: This is the most popular one everybody knows as a bridal bouquet. The shape is usually a round cluster. When most people say “I would like to make a bouquet”, it means making this type of bouquet. At the classroom, it usually takes about two hours to make one piece of this type of bouquet while most other types of regular floral arrangement (such as ordinary table arrangement) need only about an hour.
Cascade type bouquet: This is another type of bouquet popular at weddings. Since it looks like a water fall or cascade, some people call this cascade bouquet.
Pomander bouquet: For some people this word may sound unfamiliar. But this is also quite popular as a bridal bouquet. The shape is round and it looks like a ball. It is usually held by a bride. This bouquet is also called a kissing ball and often placed on the wedding table as a centerpiece decoration. Sometimes we find this one hung off the chairs for wedding ceremony.
Not only the term of bouquet originated in France but also the pomander is historically born in France. The history of original type of pomander goes back to long time ago in Europe. It looks like pomanders were first mentioned in literature in the mid-thirteenth century. Pomander was a ball made of perfumes and it was carried in vase as a protection against infection in times of pestilence or merely as a useful article to modify bad smells. From the late Middle Ages though the 17th century it was heavily used. Nowadays this article remains in a little bit different type such as a pomander ball made of flowers which is one of mandatory items carried by a bride at a wedding.
My floral design school teaches how to make bouquets and also pomanders. Especially students who join wedding floral arrangement course learn how to make these wedding flower decorations.
