When my youngest daughter outgrew her toddler bed, I was reluctant to take the bed down. She was our baby and I hated for her to grow up. So, I placed the bed in my back garden to use as an ornament. It stayed there for many years until I came up with another idea for it. Why not make it a real bed again - a flower bed?!
I moved the toddler bed to the front garden and mulched the area under and around the bed to keep the weeds and ground cover in check. I put a then piece of plywood on the bed frame and then put concrete blocks on the bed frame with the holes up. From the side, the blocks look like a mattress on the bed. I then filled the the entire area with soil, block holes and all.
Next came the fun part, planting the bed. I used trailing ground cover around the edges and when it grows over the sides, it looks like a bed skirt. As the flowers grew and filled out, it looked like a crazy quilt on the bed.
