Miami Norland, Booker T. Washington and Miami Central all play teams in Georgia on Saturday night looking to make a clean sweep of the teams in a Florida vs. Georgia matchup of talent. All the games will be played at Hallford Stadium in Clarkston, Georgia. The other Florida vs. Georgia matchup will pit Godby HS from Tallahassee against Marist High, 11:45 a.m. The Miami-Dade teams matchups will be as follows:
- Miami Central vs. Stephenson High Jaguars
- Booker T. vs Tucker HS Tigers
- Miami Norland vs. M.L. King HS Lions
A look at the Georgia State teams show that some have winning traditions and consistently play good football. Tucker is currently 0-2 on the season with a shutout loss to Stephenson High. As per the site, MaxPreps.com, since 2004, the Tucker football program has gone 118-15 and won a state championship in 2011. MaxPreps.com compiled a list of the top football programs in Georgia since 2004 and Tucker was ranked #10. Tucker lost in last year's Georgia State Football Championship Final to Creekside H.S. so possibly their 2-0 record is deceiving. Stephenson High is currently 2-0 on the year and in the last two years has compiled back to back 9-3 records. They got as far as the second round in the Georgia State playoffs in 2013, losing to North Paulding HS, 35-7.
M.L. King HS compiled a 7-4 record in 2013, losing to Gainesville HS in the first round of the Georgia State playoffs. For the two years previous, M.L. King had only two regular season losses but only got as far as the third round of the Georgia State playoffs. This will be their opening game of the season against Miami Norland. The matchups are sponsored by the Dekalb County School District Athletic Department and Chick-Fil-A. The tickets will be $10 in advance and $12 at the door which is a great price for fans to get a fix of football after a long winter and summer without.
