Florida unemployment rate drops to 6.2 percent

There is good news for working people in Florida. The state unemployment rate is continuing to drop. Governor Rick Scott made an announcement on January 24 that the Florida unemployment rate for December 2013 was 6.2 percent.

Florida added 13,500 private sector jobs in December 2013. Governor Rick Scott was quoted in a release from his office dated January 24 as saying. “Once again, we continue to distance ourselves from the national unemployment and create opportunities for Florida families,” said Scott.
Florida experienced an annual job growth rate of 2.6 percent in December 2013. This was the fastest growth rate since June 2006, according to the press release from the Office of Governor Rick Scott on January 24.

“It is good that more people are getting back to work,” said Tony Betancourt.
