Tuskers continue to improve their offense The question is what does the number one offense from year one of the United Football League do? The answer for the Florida Tuskers is to go out and rebuild that offense to do even better. Head Coach Jay Gruden, and the Tuskers staff have added a ton of talent to the offensive side of the ball, and the latest acquisition of WR Calvin Russell is yet another weapon for this team to deploy in 2010. |

Florida Tuskers sign RB Dominic Rhodes It seems Florida Tuskers Head Coach Jay Gruden is very serious about having the best offense in the United Football League again. Today it was announced that the team has signed former Super Bowl hero RB Dominic Rhodes. Rhodes did not play in 2009, after failing to make it into the crowded back field of the Buffalo Bills. He is best remembered as the backup RB who led the Indianapolis Colts in rushing yards during the post season in their run towards a win in Super Bowl 41. He scored a Touch Down in that game to secure the win for the Colts. His NFL career was partially derailed by a DUI conviction in 2007. |

I find the decisions on the Florida Tuskers roster to be very interesting. They had the best offensive attack in the inaugural UFL season led by QB Brooks Bollinger and WR Taye Biddle. Biffle did so well in fact, 30 catches for 525 yards and two touch downs easily leading the league, that he was signed to a futures contract with the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. Now the Tuskers are rebuilding their Wide Out corps with two receivers taken in the draft, and two more signed in free agency. The latest signing is WR Bennie Brazell a former Olympian track star. |

Florida Tuskers protected playersThis is an essential part to understand how the rosters for the five teams in the United Football League will be constructed. The four teams that played in 2009 were allowed to protect 20 players each. These players form the nucleus of the 2010 rosters. The Omaha Nighthawks were allowed to select 20 players from the other four teams in an expansion draft to begin their roster. The five teams are then allowed to sign 20 free agents, and select 12 players via the UFL draft On June 2, 2010. |

Tampa Bay Rays sell their stake in UFL Tuskers The Tampa Bay Rays made a big splash last year when they purchased 50% of the Florida Tuskers United Football League franchise. The Rays were looking for another tenant for their baseball stadium. While the UFL was hoping that a Rays ownership stake would bring the new team and league some extra attention. Less than a year later the Rays have sold their stake in the team back to the UFL and this may be a strong indication of what people think of the UFL product, and what is going on in the Tampa Bay sports market. |

Florida Tuskers name Jay Gruden Head Coach The Florida Tuskers are without a doubt they most popular team in the upstart United Football League. They completed their first season undefeated, before losing in the Championship game to the Las Vegas Locos. They were so good that their first head coach, Jim Haslett was hired by the Washington Redskins to be their Defensive Coordinator. The Florida Tuskers have now named their offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden as the team next head coach. |

Locos spoil Tuskers perfect season, win first UFL title Some things in the game of football are universal. Whether we are talking about the NFL, the UFL, or College a few things always seem to hold true. The first of those things it is near impossible to beat one football team three times in a given season, the next is completing an undefeated season is next to impossible to do. Earlier today the Las Vegas Locos of the UFL defeated the previously undefeated Florida Tuskers to win the first UFL championship. |

2009 UFL season in review: Florida Tuskers Without a doubt the Florida Tuskers were the best UFL team in 2009. They completed an undefeated regular season, only to lose to the Las Vegas Locos in overtime of the first ever UFL championship game. Beyond being a great team, this is a fun team. Without doubt the best name, and best uniforms of the new league. In fact the Tuskers are one of the most uniquely named pro-football teams to come along in a long time. Given the many Arena leagues, and other football leagues that have sprouted up in the last decade that is really saying something. |

Florida Tuskers complete first UFL season undefeated The Florida Tuskers have completed the inaugural UFL season a perfect 6-0, and while that is a great accomplishment, the league has a few other things to be proud of. A lot has been written, or not written about the success of this league, the low attendance, and the low TV ratings, but after watching the game between the Tuskers and the California Redwoods last night, one this is assured the quality of play on the field is a strong selling point for this league. Now they just have to figure out how to get more people in the stands, and more people to watch the TV broadcasts. |
