Florida to hire 250 people to deal with unemployment claims

The Florida unemployment rate is going down and this is very good news for the state's working people. But there are still people facing unemployment and there have been problems with Connect, the online unemployment filing system. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity will hire 100 workers, in January, 100 workers in February and 50 workers in March to help people who need help in dealing with benefit problems, according to an article by Marcia Heroux Pounds in the January 4 Sun Sentinel.

"I hope they get some more people. I have had problems getting benefits and I need those benefits," said Susan Herman.

"I think it would be better to have more people helping those with unemployment benefit issues rather than using computers. Many people are uncomfortable with computers," said Edward Reed.
