Police in Jacksonville, FL, have charged two teens with animal cruelty for shooting cats at point-blank range. While arresting the two for drugs, police found a video of the cats being shot on the cellphone of one of the teens.
The Florida Times Union reported that the video included audio of the person holding the phone and saying “shoot him in the face” and “all right let me do this one.”
The phone belonged to Mason Andrew Lanier, 18, who was charged with animal cruelty along with criminal conspiracy, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Ethan Peoples, 17, was charged with animal cruelty.
Lanier’s arrest report indicated that he initially told police that he did not know about the video. He claimed the video was on the phone when he bought it from the Peoples. He later confessed to filming the video, while the other teen shot the cats.
Lanier is in jail on $113,500 bond. Peoples was released to his parents.
