Week 8 of the college football schedule concludes with one of the must see games of the day as No. 5 Florida State takes on No. 3 Clemson in Death Valley. Finally, a college football game with a lot on the line!
To say this is a huge game for both schools and the Top 25 and future BCS rankings is truly an understatement.
“It may be the biggest game in ACC history. We don't know,'' said Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley, who had a big scoop-and-score TD in the Tigers' 24-14 victory Saturday. ``But our goal is to win a national championship.''
FSU and Clemson both come into this game with a lot on the line here, but Vegas odds makers shocked me and many others by installing Florida State as a 3.5 point favorite.
Clemson hasn’t had the toughest schedule by any means, but have you checked out FSU’s?
Facing Nevada and Bethune-Cookman shouldn’t count that much when it comes to the rankings, nevertheless Florida State is playing great football, but the difference here is Clemson knows what a great opportunity they had last season to make a BCS run, and they don’t want to blow that again this year.
Clemson QB Tajh Boyd has all the skills, and he has been here before – now it’s time for him to shine on the biggest stage this weekend.
Boyd led Clemson to an opening day win over Georgia by throwing 5 TD passes and has looked like a maturing QB ever since. Winning on the road in college football is never easy, but Boyd looked good in wins vs. NC State and Syracuse – not the hottest teams in college, but they were both on the road in pretty hostile environments.
Bottom line: FSU and Clemson are both playing at a high level, but odds makers have this wrong. Clemson will be up to the challenge and will win this game outright, so the points are gold.
Pick: Clemson +3.5
