Florida State University (FSU) and University of Central Florida (UCF) fans are invited to visit Florida State Parks for half-off the normal entrance fees to parks Mondays through Thursdays throughout January. Celebrate the success of the FSU Seminoles football team winning the BCS National Championship and the UCF Knights football team's win in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at one of Florida's Gold Award winning state parks.
“FSU and UCF are winners, just like the state parks,” said Donald Forgione, Director of the Florida Park Service in a DEP press release. “So it’s only natural that the state parks cheer on these bowl wins along with fans. The players and coaches of Florida’s universities work hard and we are applaud their success.”
All that's needed to receive the half-price admission is to wear a FSU or UCF hat, shirt or jacket or to show a current student ID when visiting a Florida State Park during the week, Monday through Thursday. Guests sporting their team's insignia or showing a student ID will receive a discounted day-use admittance.
The offer is good at all Florida State Parks except Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and Skyway Fishing Pier State Park. Special events, additional usage fees and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20, 2014) is excluded from the half-price offer.
