According to Top 10+1 Sports Blog via Seminoles.com, Jamies Winston was named starting quarterback on Friday August 23, 2013. The great news was relayed by Jimbo Fisher. Winston instantly becomes one of the more athletic quarterbacks starting week one of the college season.
Jameis Winston has beaten out Jacob Coker for the starting position at Florida State. Head Coach Jimbo Fisher announced the news Friday evening. Winston will be making his first start as a redshirt freshman against the Pittsburgh Panthers. This should be a good test for Florida State, especially since they are starting on the season on the road.
Here's a quote from Seminoles.com. "After splitting first-team camp repetitions equally with Coker over the past 2 1/2 weeks, Fisher saw enough in his potential-star pupil to give him the reins to an offense that will take the field for the first time in 2013 at Pittsburgh Sept. 2."
Winston will be playing his first game on the road at Heinz Field. For all of the college fans out there, it should be a treat to watch this young and talented quarterback take the field. He has great duel threat ability and is sure to breathe life into the offensive philosophies of Florida State.
According to Top 10+1, they don't want to put too much pressure on the new QB, but Winston might become the next Johnny Manziel and lead the Seminoles to new heights after losing a first round draft pick to the AFC East?
