Fort Meyers, Fla – According to tbo.com, A school teacher is facing animal cruelty charges for keeping a puppy locked inside a hot trunk while he was at school. Apparently, the car belonged to a Mathew Emans who is a teacher at a Fort Myers charter school. Authorities say he was keeping a Staffordshire Terrier puppy that was about four months old in the trunk of his car.
According to tbo.com, “A Lee County Domestic Animal Services report says two students saw a man take the puppy out of the car Friday morning. He took it on a walk and then put it back in the trunk.”
Upon opening of the trunk, the puppy was discovered inside and to be panting and needing water.
Per tbo.com, “Emans told officials he was keeping the dog in the trunk for a few hours while he was at school. Investigators said the temperature in the vehicle was about 152 degrees and about 97 degrees in the trunk, according to the Fort Myers News-Press.”
