Florida pastor suspected of embezzling church funds

A pastor is suspected of embezzling funds from his church in Delray Beach, Florida. The police report, only an allegation as of today, was released to the public on Feb. 25.

The report alleges Rev. Howard Barr Jr. is suspected of embezzling church funds. Barr, a 20-year Army veteran, took over as pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 2007. The chairman of the budget committee is listed on the report as levying the charges.

The website for the church does not list committee members. The name of the filing individual is not provided on the original report.

Police in Delray Beach are investigating the allegations, but have not made any arrested or filed any charges against Rev. Barr Jr.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church has been a part of the Delray Beach community since 1942. The group began in 1927 as a home-based prayer group, according to the church's website.
