Florida Panthers with millions to spend in offseason

The Florida Panthers have 24 million to spend to reach the salary cap floor.

While most pro teams are usually shuffling around trying to get as many players under the sallary cap, the Florida Panthers find themselves in the odd situation of having to spend the minimum amount to stay within the minimum spending allowed.

As free agency begins on Friday, the Panthers are being forced to be an assertive team for once. A role that the team's records in the past years make clear is not a natural one for them.

The Panther's GM Dale Tallon says the team has been preparing for this moment, and it seems the appointment of new head coach Kevin Dineen.

The Panthers first order of business will be to retain goalkeeper Tomas Vokoun, hoping their recent trade for Campbell will prove to him the club is committed to winning.

With only four forwards on one-year contracts, the Panthers are likely to prioritize the foward and goalkeeper position during the free agency period.
