Florida minimum wage set to rise from $7.79 to $7.93

Florida workers who work for minimum wage will see a slight increase on January 1. That is when the Florida hourly minimum wage will increase from $7.79 to $7.93. The federal minimum wage is now $7.25 an hour, according to an article by Donna Gehrke-White in the December 23 Sun Sentinel.

"I think it is about time lower wages workers get a pay increase. I work very hard for my money and I know how tough it can be to make a living," said Jonathan Mason.

"I don't think there should be a minimum wage. I think employers should be able to pay workers whatever they want to. A minimum wage actually makes it harder for people to get a start because employers have to pay unskilled and inexperienced people more than what they are worth," said Todd Herman.
