Isidro Zavala, a South Florida man, murdered two of his sons on Saturday. Then he killed himself.
Victoria Flores Zavala, who was separated from her husband, told detectives she was watching television when she heard some noise. That was when she went to see about her boys. Zavala stated that she saw Isidro choking one of her sons.
“She tried fighting off Isidro Zavala, begging him to kill her and not the children," police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said. Isidro responded by saying he would keep Zavala alive so she could mourn the loss of her sons.
“Police identified the children as 12-year-old Eduardo Zavala and 11-year-old Mario Zavala. One boy was found dead in a screened patio area, and the other was in the kitchen. Zavala was also discovered in the kitchen with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
The couple also has a 19-year-old son, but he does not reside at that home.
Police reported the crime to Florida’s Department of Children and Families. However, there was no record of domestic violence or abuse at Victoria Zavala’s home, according to police.
