Florida man kills his two sons, then kills himself with gun in front of ex-wife

Isidro Zavala, 45, of Boynton Beach, Florida committed suicide after murdering his two pre-teen sons. Police are unsure why Zavala went on such a rampage.

Eduardo Zavala, 12, and Mario Zavla, 11, were both pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived.

Victoria Zavala, the estranged wife of Isidro, had filed for divorce previously in Oct. of 2012 and had heard very little from her soon to be ex-husband. Then at around 2 a.m. on Feb. 2 Victoria says Isidro broke into her home and murdered her two sons. She is said to have encountered her husband while he was in the process of choking Eduardo Zavala with a rope.

This is when Victoria claims she begged her husband to spare their child's life, and to kill her instead. Isidro looked her in the eyes and said no. He was going to let her live so that she would have to live the rest of her life suffering the loss of her sons.

After finishing the strangulation of his second oldest child, Isidro Zavala shot son Mario multiple times and then turned his handgun on himself. First he shot himself in the chest, and then pointed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger.

Neighbors are stunned by the tragedy. According to the local reporting of palmbeachpost.com Boynton Beach Police Chief Matthew Immler commented, "This is an unusually brutal type of murder. Hopefully, as time passes, their wounds will heal. I doubt it. I don’t know that you can ever recover from something like this."
