A pit bull in Palm Beach County, Fla., is lucky to be alive today after her owner, Reginald Johnson, hanged her from a tree limb.
According to Friday's Sun-Sentinel News, a neighbor spotted the dog, named "Trinity," hanging three feet from the ground, flailing and screaming in agony, on Thursday morning.
The neighbor, who was not named, called the authorities.
Johnson, who had suspended the dog from the tree by her leash, told the authorities that he was "punishing" her.
Somehow, Trinity managed to slip free from her collar - an act which saved her life.
According to WPTV News, the 37-year-old man was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty and later released on $3,000 bond.
Trinity was taken to a veterinarian to ensure that she had not been injured in the cruel incident.
