An Osceola County man beat his 3-month-old baby to death because the infant kept on crying. Police in St. Cloud said Larry Perry actually confessed to this crime.
Perry, 28, called 911 Wednesday night, explaining to dispatchers that he had hurt his son, Ayden.
Here is a portion of the 911 transcript.
Perry: "911?"
911: "This is 911. Do you have an emergency?"
Perry: "Yeah, I just hurt my baby, so."
911: "You what?"
Perry: "Yeah, I hurt my baby."
According to police, 3-month-old Ayden was heard crying and struggling for air while Perry spoke with the 911 dispatchers.
St. Cloud police Sgt. Denise Roberts called this crime brutal, stating that the baby had injuries to his neck and head.
“The infant was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he died from his injuries overnight.”
Based on police report, Perry claimed he turned on a vacuum cleaner to calm his sleepless, crying baby.
When his vacuuming technique failed to comfort the child, Perry said he threw him against the wall, flung him on the bed, “twisted his neck, kicked him, then called 911."
Baby Ayden had no mother to protect him because his mother, Kathy Barnes, “was already in jail on charges of trafficking heroin, leaving baby Ayden alone with his father.”
Roberts said this situation had nothing to do with shaken baby syndrome. He believes it is a case of domestic violence, and the victim was a helpless baby.
“Perry was charged with first-degree murder in a case that even shook and disturbed officers at the St. Cloud Police Department.”
