Florida Man has struck again, and this time he's making it easier than ever for local police officers to fulfill their duties.
On Sunday night, 29-year-old Christopher Lindsey Smith was arrested for driving under the influence after dropping off a friend at the Pasco County Jail in Land O'Lakes, located 20 miles north of Tampa. Only Smith didn't get pulled over somewhere in town. Instead, he passed out behind the wheel of his car while sitting in the jail's parking lot after having "a couple of beers."
Detention center staff reportedly heard music blaring from the parking lot and went down to check it out when they discovered an unresponsive Smith behind the wheel with the keys in the ignition. It took several minutes of banging on the windows to get his attention before he finally awoke.
According to NBC affiliate WFLA, the police report notes that deputies smelled a "strong odor of alcohol" when they reached Smith's Impala and found an opened beer in the cup holder.
Authorities then escorted Smith a very short distance to the jail, where he was booked and refused to take a breathalyzer test. He was released on bond today and it was not known whether he has an attorney.
