Get in on the ground floor

“Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!” is a celebration of Florida’s schools, students and the state’s commitment to literacy as Job One.

As part of a national mandate to get kids excited about to the fun and wonder of math and science, Literacy Week partners will bring portable planetariums to elementary and middle schools so that students can sit under the stars and learn how reading relates to science and space technology.

From learning about the constellations and their relationship to mythology, the planets and space exploration, volunteers demonstrate the importance of literacy.

Check the state’s web site for your county’s activities for next week.

There’s also a recommended reading list and toolkits for students, teachers, parents and volunteers.

“Celebrate Literacy, Florida!” Week runs through Friday.
