Yesterday, the Libertarian Party of Collier County, an affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF), announced detailed plans to host the libertarian's state convention in Naples, Florida. The Collier County affiliate was victorious over bids from Duval County (Jacksonville) and Hillsborough County (Tampa) in competing to host the 2013 LPF convention.
The 2013 Convention will run from May 24-26, 2013 at the Naples Hilton Hotel. The convention will consist of the state party's annual business meeting and special speaking engagements from both local and nationally known speakers, including former Reagan aide Roger Stone, Lawrence Reed, President of the Foundation for Economic Education, Chairman of the National Libertarian Party Geoffrey Neale, and Nikolai Wenzel, Assistant Professor of Economics at Florida Gulf Coast University. The full schedule for the convention events can be found online at the official convention website: www.LibertyRising2013.com.
Jared M. Grifoni, the Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Collier County stated, “We are so excited to be able to bring the Libertarian Party of Florida state convention to our home here in Collier County. Being awarded the convention is a big deal, as Collier County has never hosted a state convention for the Libertarian Party of Florida in its history. We have grown exponentially since our county affiliate's inception a little less than two years ago. Without the hard work and dedication of our members, volunteers, and our candidates in the 2012 election we certainly wouldn't be where we are today. ”
Grifoni continued, “This convention is for everyone here in Collier County not just registered Libertarians. We chose the theme “Liberty Rising” because it's an inclusive message we can all get behind. In a society with more freedom and liberty we will all be better off. Come join us in May and learn from some great speakers and participate in our fun events. Register in advance at LibertyRising2013.com!”
