The Libertarian Party of Florida is holding its annual state convention this weekend in Orlando which in addition to normal party business, included a Presidential Debate of the Libertarian Party candidates seeking the party's nomination and a straw poll of delegates in who they would like to see be the nominee.
Gary Johnson received 42 out of the 60 votes cast at the Florida convention, which is mimics what Johnson has received at other state Libertarian conventions making it most likely he will be the Libertarian Party's nominee come May. The Libertarian Party holds its annual national convention in Las Vegas in May and will select it's nominee for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States.
During a fundraiser in Palm Beach County Thursday night, Johnson said he is not taking the Party's nomination for granted and continues to work hard to make it a reality. During his Florida tour, Johnson has met with large crowds supporting his candidacy, from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale.
Johnson is expecting to qualify to be in the Presidential debates alongside Obama and the Republican nominee as he expects to meet the 15% polling threshold needed at or before the Libertarian Party's convention. He was most recently polled at 9% against Obama and Romney.
