Florida legislature may end skills test for unemployed people

The Florida legislature will consider ending a skills test that people applying for unemployment benefits must take.

"I hope this test ends. I don't think it is fair and I don't think it helps anyone," said Richard Walling, a construction worker.

"I think people who are applying for unemployment benefits should be required to take some form of test. This is important because it will identify the skills a person has and how a future employer may benefit from them," said Brandy Holcomb.

"Skills tests are basically worthless. I think we need to find a better way of helping people get back to work," said Karen Goldstein.

"Being unemployed is hard enough. I don't think people should be required to take a skills test," said Daniel Hinton.
