Florida Georgia Line's summer hit single, 'Cruise' has set a new record at being the No. 1 single for multiple weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Song list according to Taste of Country on Friday, August 2, 2013.
'Cruise' has been in the No. 1 spot for 22 weeks now and has now set the all-time record for Billboard Hot Country as taking over for the most weeks of having a single at No. 1.
The duo that makes up Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have just taken the No. 1 spot away from several country legends who were tied for the record at 21 weeks at the top. Eddy Arnold's ‘I’ll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms)’ was the first single to hold the record in 1947-48, followed by Hank Snow’s ‘I’m Moving On’ in 1950. Then in 1955 Webb Pierce’s ‘In the Jailhouse Now' joined the duo for the first place tie.
Florida Georgia Line has gained in popularity in the past year. One of the reasons why is that the duo are putting out music that the public can relate too. Sales have been booming for the group, who is also in the hunt for the No. 1 spot in digital sales for a single with 'Cruise.' So far the popular single has sold 5.4 million digital downloads. Lady Antebellum holds the record for No. 1 digital sales for a single with 6.2 copies of 'Need You Now' being sold.
Florida Georgia Line will be touring this fall on their first headlining tour named appropriately, the 2013 Here's to the Good Times Tour.
