A young dog in Wauchula, Fla., is fighting to survive after being doused in kerosene and set on fire, reported Friday's WTSP News.
The dog, estimated to be just a year of age, has severe burns over much of her body after a cigarette butt ignited the accelerant which was on her body; the person who allegedly is responsible for the dog's current condition is her owner.
Neighbors who witnessed the terrible scene rushed to help douse the flames.
According to HART, the rescue agency which is heading up her care, the Fire Marshall is investigating the situation.
The rescue agency stated:
Hope is now changed to Kary Blaze officially named by the Fire Marshall investigating. He came by to check on her again. It was Kerosene not gasoline poured on her and than the cigarette flicked in her kennel. The man responsible suffers from Alzheimers.
On Friday morning, HART indicated that Kary Blaze was being transported to a specialist in Bonita Springs for further evaluation.
The rescue agency has requested that any donations be sent to: Hardee Animal Clinic 1927 Hwy 17 N, Wauchula, Fl 33873 care of Kary Blaze or to H.A.R.T., PO Box 2486 Wauchula, Fl 33873.
