According to WFLA 8 News, a Port Richey, Fla., child was taken to the hospital after her family's chocolate Labrador retriever bit her in the face on Friday evening.
The family had been keeping the dog confined to a room of the house because he had showed aggressive tendencies towards children - the child who was injured had entered that room to retrieve a toy. According to WTSP News, neighbors of the family were not surprised about the attack, stating that the dog has shown signs of aggression for years.
The injured child was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with lacerations to her face; she may need reconstructive surgery. The dog was removed from the home by animal control.
There is no word on why the girl was allowed to walk into the room with the dog, if the dog was known to have aggressive tendencies towards children.
