A Florida campus closed Monday morning after the apparent suicidal of a student in his dorm. Bombs and other weapons were uncovered by police inside the dorm at the University of Central Florida, Inquisitr reports March 18.
Campus police acted on a 911 call they received "regarding a man with a gun." When they arrived at the scene, they found a male student dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his dorm. Upon their investigation into his room, they found "weapons and improvised explosive devices." Students were advised to immediately evacuate the Florida campus dorm around 2:09 a.m., but were informed 30 minutes later there wasn't a live shooter lurking as a threat.
The dorm in which the apparent suicide and weapons were found was located at Towers at Knight Plaza in Tower 1.
The Florida campus is planned to remain closed until Monday afternoon. All classes before that time have been canceled.
A student at the school wrote this on her Facebook page:
“I am sad to say a UCF Knight took their own life today in Tower 1. Despite the … devices found in the student’s room this loss was a tragedy. This week I encourage all UCF students to lend a helping hand to a roommate or friend or contact someone you haven’t spoken to in awhile. Life is precious and it can end in the blink of an eye.”
