Florida business rewards its employees with beer

A Florida health care business has a very pithy message to its hard working employees – Have a beer on us.

According to a March 8 AP release, Florida-based business Advance Medical rewards its employees with a “beer cart,” which is rolled out on company time for employees to partake.

The Friday tradition has been ongoing for two years, and is part of an “unorthodox corporate culture” that rewards employees for hard work, according to CEO Jennifer Fuicelli.

Started in 2005 with just four employees, the company now has 350 workers in two locations – Port Orange, Fla., and Broomfield, Colo.

No word on if the growth is linked to the beer, but it certainly can’t hurt.

Fuicelli also said they host other work-time incentives, such as encouraging their employees to dress up for Halloween, hosting lunch-time barbecues and a “get out of jail free” card, which can be turned in to take a birthday off.

How many beers can the employees have? Just one, according to Fuicelli. Nevertheless, she said that small price “pays huge dividends.”
