Do you own a dog or cat?
If so then you’re probably like most pet owners (myself included) who treat their pets more like family members than animals.
Let’s face it – few things feel as good as knowing that when you come home from work there will be one member of the family who is always glad to see you – the dog. Cats – maybe, maybe not, depending on mood.
You probably have conversations with him/her, devote lots of time to walking, brushing and bathing and prefer their company to most people you know.
Your dog probably gets more check-ups than you do.
You’ll opt for the most cost effective health care plan your employer offers for your own medical needs, but when it comes to the dog – you’d pay a weeks salary for the Vet to give him a clean bill of health.
It’s OK to admit it – it isn’t a social problem. There are no support groups for pet spoilers…yet.
However, hundreds of good books have been written with animal lovers in mind.
Patricia O’Grady, of Port Richey, Florida, has penned three of them.
“Woofing it Down – The Quick and Easy Guide to Making Healthy Dog Food at Home” coupled with “Lapping it Up – The Quick and Easy Guide to Making Healthy Cat Food at Home” are two.
As you can imagine each book teaches pet owners how to prepare healthy, cost effective meals for their respective pets at home. They also discuss the drawbacks of feeding store-bought pet food to your animals. The recipes are vet approved and endorsed and will help your pet live a longer, healthier and happier life.
O’Grady’s newest book is a specialty book called “The Ultimate Yorkshire Terrier Book.”
If you own, or plan to own, a Yorkie – this is your book.
Patricia O’Grady is a bona fide expert on Yorkshire Terriers as well as a professional dog trainer. She has bred, raised and trained Champion Yorkshire Terriers for over 25 years. Now she has put her wealth of experience into one book for you.
Everything you need to know is there.
History of the breed, feeding, puppy selection, showing, dental care, health concerns, grooming, training, traveling tips, breeding and much more. (Although it doesn’t seem like there could be much more.)
“The Ultimate Yorkshire Terrier Book” will be available Dec. 18th at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, booksamillion.com and other on-line book sellers. It will also be available at local bookstores. If your bookstore doesn’t have it – ask them to order it.
The price of the book will be $21.99 for hardcover and $12.99 for paperback.
A portion of the proceeds from all of Patricia O’Grady’s books is donated to animal rescue organizations.
Also in her catalog are a children’s fantasy book “Tales of the Whosawhachits” and a supernatural thriller “Mirror Mirror,” which won a New Covey Award in April 2009.

I'm very interested in healthy food for my dogs (Chihuahuas) and often cook for them. Ms. O'Grady's books look pretty useful to help people figure out how to make good meals for their canine buddies.
Sounds like a sensible plan. What with all the recent scares about tainted dog and cat food, it might be a good idea to start making my own.
Let you know how it tastes ...
Loving our pets means providing food for them that we know is safe. I applaud Ms. O'Grady for the very helpful information.
