The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library and Pillar of Fire present a free screening of the 1947 holiday classic, “The Bishop’s Wife,” on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at 2 p.m.
Nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, “The Bishop’s Wife” stars Cary Grant as an angel sent to earth. David Niven, Loretta Young, James Gleason, and Elsa Lanchester appear in the other major roles. The picture also features direction by Henry Koster, whose other credits include the Jimmy Stewart classic, “Harvey” (1950).
On December 15, the library will offer another holiday classic with a free presentation of “A Christmas Carol” (1951). The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library is located at 350 N.
