In order to earn good skills of floral arranging, taking private lessons must be the most ideal way. However it may cost a lot. How about attending a mass production lecture like classes often offered by community colleges ? It works quite well for learning concept, type of arranging, history and name of flowers as well as how to handle fresh flowers etc.
But due to so many students in a class, it looks like instructors have difficulties to teach each student how to arrange flowers by way of hands on training. Therefore when it comes to actual training to earn practical skills of floral arranging, lecture system in the way of mass production class cannot be said to be the ideal way.
Being such situation, majority of people must compromise at a reasonable point. Namely they need to find the point where they can trade off. Private lesson is too expensive and most people cannot afford to take it. Lecture style community college program often has too many students in a class although it is affordable.
If there is a kind of semi-private lesson which limits the number of students so that instructor can teach each student with hands on training of ONE ON ONE instruction and if the price of such lesson is affordable, this must be the ideal way and it is what many people are looking for.
Then how many students could be allowed per class to implement hands on training of ONE ON ONE instructions ? Judging from my experience, once the number of students exceed 6 per class (or per instructor), it is usually quite difficult to take a well care of each student. Therefore we usually limit number of students to six per class. Typically the class I offer has only 3 to 4 students and it never exceeds 6 per class.
Small group class system we are offering also allows quite flexible lesson schedule which is students friendly. Our students can set up their own lesson schedule by picking up their favorite day/time by well considering their private schedule and convenience. Students do not need to take lessons consecutively. They can skip and reschedule next lesson as far as they let us know 7 days prior to next scheduled lesson day.
If you are too busy to attend tightly scheduled classes, why not consider taking lessons at California Flower Art Academy ? We offer classes not only on weekdays but also on the weekend.
